667km to Santiago
Day #8 on the Camino Frances, two "intrepid giants" charging forward. |
The sun was barely peeking on the horizon when we set out for the day's stage. |
Clear skies promised a warm and pleasant walk for the day. |
The paths looked never-ending, but as the terrain was flat we were full of confidence. |
Wishes of a "Buen Camino" spread along the way. |
By this time, bad luck was knocking on our door. However, the Camino's beauty kept us from attending to its needs. |
Church Santa Maria, at Los Arcos. Only half stage covered and we were already down on our knees. |
End of the stage in sight... So we thought! |
Nothing compares to this "wonderful" stage ending... a long stretch of burning asphalt road to ruin sore feet! |
"That must be Torres del Rio..." It wasn't! |
Sansol?! But where is Torres del Rio??? We would have our answer a few kilometers ahead: Torres del Rio is tucked away in a deep valley. No wonder we couldn't see it. |
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Torres del Rio, a Templar octagonal church from the 12th century. |
The Casa Mariela was one of the best albergues we found along the way. |
