From Villamayor to Torres del Rio (20km)

146km walked
667km to Santiago

Day #8 on the Camino Frances, two "intrepid giants" charging forward.

The sun was barely peeking on the horizon when we set out for the day's stage.

Clear skies promised a warm and pleasant walk for the day.

The paths looked never-ending, but as the terrain was flat we were full of confidence.

Wishes of a "Buen Camino" spread along the way.

By this time, bad luck was knocking on our door. However, the Camino's beauty kept us from attending to its needs.

Church Santa Maria, at Los Arcos. Only half stage covered and we were already down on our knees.

End of the stage in sight... So we thought!
Nothing compares to this "wonderful" stage ending... a long stretch of burning asphalt road to ruin sore feet!
"That must be Torres del Rio..." It wasn't!
Sansol?! But where is Torres del Rio??? We would have our answer a few kilometers ahead: Torres del Rio is tucked away in a deep valley. No wonder we couldn't see it.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Torres del Rio, a Templar octagonal church from the 12th century.

The Casa Mariela was one of the best albergues we found along the way.
